just plain vanilla

You will almost never hear me use those words to describe any cupcakes I've made.
I rarely just make vanilla cupcakes...
however, we are having our new roof put on today
and the contractors blocked my car in.
So the cookies and cream cupcakes will have to wait till next weekend.
It is hard impossible to keep oreos in this house.

Recipe for the cupcakes:
3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter room temp
4 large eggs
1 cup milk (I used skim today. all I had)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Buttercream frosting:
I keep tweaking this...
added more butter this time...
it's reflected below.
trying to get it where I just l.o.v.e. it

1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter room temp
6 to 8 cups confectioners' sugar (start with 6 cups, I've never used more than 6 1/2)
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (I had vanilla, but I used almond. I heart almond extract)

{r} jar

I saw this tutorial from pen n' paper flowers last month...
{her blog is amazing, if you are not already a follower you must go see}
 I just had to try it out for myself.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

What you'll need:

an empty Starbucks jar (or jar of your choice)
letter stickers (got mine at michaels)
etching cream, 1 sheet of sticker paper,
and a brush or foam stick
{{if you don't want to use sticker paper, see how pen n' paper flowers used spray adheasive}}

I used a circle craft punch to cut a circle in my sticker paper
stuck that to my jar then stuck the letters inside
the pic on the right is with the etching cream dabbed on
you only leave the etching cream on for 60 seconds
then rinse off and ta.da!

It is the perfect addition to my new kitchen shelf

Golfball Cakepops

Today is my hubs's bff's birthday.
{ya' follow me?}

While the boys were out playing golf...
Christine (hubs's bff's wifey) and her sister Kelly came over to make cakepops!
We must have made a million, and cupcakes too. More to share later.

Happy Birthday Tony!
