38 weeks!

I don't really count his age in weeks, but I had today bookmarked as a milestone.

Today Durham is 38 weeks old. When I was 38 weeks pregnant, we went to our weekly appointment and found out that our fatty-fatty inside baby was not going to be coming into the world the way we had planned. He was breech, sunny side up and measuring 10lbs. The doctor said we needed to schedule a c-section because it was best for him (and me) and so we did... one week from that day, at 39 weeks pregnant, we welcomed our little miracle into the world.

For some reason, 38 weeks has always held onto me. The last part of his pregnancy was a whirlwind of swollen feet, long busy christmas shifts at work, chinese food, and worry. I let myself go crazy about the c-section. I let fret, worry, anxiety, fear and googling overtake my mind. I didn't enjoy that last week of just me & him, the easy stuff like feeding him without even thinking about it, and sheltering him from the cold and germs of the world.... safe inside my tummy. I should have let-go and let-God take care of us... but I didn't. I hope that with our next baby (I'm not pregnant, calm down) I will look back and remember what I wish I would have done. How I wish I would have reacted to our situation....

I didn't mean to get all debbie-downer... just wanted to journal what I'm feeling today. Thankful for our sweet baby boy who is now almost as old on the outside as he was on the inside. and reminiscent of what we learned on this day 38 weeks ago... that although you think you have it all planned out, God always wins. Bo-ya!

Just Pictures

I haven't been good at posting here, but that's ok because I've been good at doing a lot of other things lately... I'm a good baby snuggler, and I'm good at watching TV with the hubs. I'm good at work meetings and getting caught up on my to-dos. I'm good at pea-pie, and home made baby food. I'm good at writing cards and encouraging friends. and I'm good at instagram.

I have a few half-written posts saved...
so once I get a chance to finish them they'll be several in a row. ::gasp::

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Things I hear through the monitor...

We just have a regular monitor, not a fancy video one (maybe next time) or one that has the two way speaker so you can talk to the baby. Our house is small and even without the monitor we can hear the Durham from his bed to ours at night. But you know that thing that babies do to your brain, like make it crazy and you think you hear the baby screaming and you go check on him and he is sound asleep. I can't tell you how many times a night I think I hear him cry and he never is. So I still keep the monitor on so I can watch for the light to blink.

There are other things you can hear through our monitor...
ours is usually filled with the "sssssshhhhhhh" sound of Durham's sound machine, or the occasional songs from a squeeze of his seahorse. But sometimes I hear some randoms too...

hubs: "you don't need that paci... daddy dosent have a paci"

hubs: "I know buddy, sometimes I wanna cry too"

hubs: "oh gawd, there's poop everywhere"

my mom: "tell me what momma does when I'm not here"

me: :::rocking the baby in his room and hummmming:::
hubs: "are you humming the old rugged cross?"
me: "yeah. I've been humming for an hour, so I'm kinda running out of songs."
hubs: "have you done the wheels on the bus yet? he likes that."

July

July was such a fun month! Filled with new foods, learning to crawl, pulling up in the bathtub, crawling after (and attacking) Cole-puppy, birthdays, holidays and moving up to new jams (size 12-18months!) I am working on the 8-month post (Durham is 8-months old today!) but it might be after the weekend.

We are headed out this weekend to go to the LONGEST YARDSALE!
You can see some info about it HERE.
Please pray for me, it's my first (and only ever for the next 18 years!) night away from Durham.
Daddy has special instructions to text me pictures multiple times a day! :)

2012 Olympics

We are an Olympic household.
not that we ever actually went to the Olympics or anything
but we LOVE to watch and root for USA!

I know that this year Durham has no idea what is going on, but I'm excited thinking about watching the next olympics with him. I hope he likes swimming and gymnastics as much as mommy!

maybe Durham can be in the baby Olympics for pulling up!

Do you watch? What is your favorite sport?
